AWAKEN YOUR INNER CHILD AND REVEL IN THE AUTUMN!

Here we are welcoming this sweet September dawning! 'Round about now is when many (so called) "grown ups" start sweating the small stuff and wailing that September hales the commencement of a dark descent into the dreaded Holiday hustle and bustle followed by a teary and reluctant farewell to yet another year.

Really? Just because the summer's inferno (Actually you've got to agree that we were spared from the "so hot you can fry and egg on the sidewalk" summer this year!) is winding down, DOES NOT MEAN that joy and life's luster is washing out to sea!

Truthfully, when September rolls around I am overwhelmed with the same feelings of excitement and possibility that came when I was a school girl! Long ago and far away each Labor Day weekend I gleefully would ride my royal blue Schwinn (...appropriately named Dale Evans because I always envisioned her to have brilliant blue eyes) to the "Five and Ten Cent Store" and buy myself a snappy box of Ticonderoga #2 pencils, some crisp 3-ring lined loose leaf paper, Crayola crayons - the 64 count box with the built-in sharpener of course - what I deemed to be a sassy new pencil case (perhaps in the shape of a lemon) and a lunchbox (designs of which ran the gambit of Flintstones to Bonanza). Then I would sit down to make a list of resolutions for the "New School Year" which year-after-year included neatly laying out my school uniform each and every evening, finishing ALL my homework - including extra credit assignments - and enrolling in every extra-curricular club I could find! Naturally by Weekend One I would abandon each resolution ...but I digress.

As usual, at this point in your laborious yet ever-loyal reading of this article, you likely are wondering, "What in the world does this have to do with reality?" The answer is two fold. First, I don't easily cotton to "reality" which is what Lily Tomlin calls "a collective hunch." And second, We all have choices. We can dread the waning of another year (Wah, Wah, Wah...) or we can embrace an opportunity to start fresh with renewed intentions to live large! (Whoop, Whoop Whoop!!!)

Come on! What do you have to lose? For starters our dear Club is planning a bevy of rip roaring fun times for the remainder of 2016! Read the special notices that artfully grace the pages of this DIVOT (..HEY! NOT BEFORE YOU FINISH THIS ARTICLE.) Everything is at your disposal from Battle of the Sexes (which perhaps will be the year the gallant gals eek out a win from those cheatin' guys) to the October Wine Fest, to Halloween's Howly Yappy Hour, to Rancho Days Harvest Celebration, New Years Eve Across the Nation and so much more!

And beyond all the special events, each week brings new opportunities to gather formally or informally amidst the delightful company of our fellow Association members. We also have Tuesday "Burger Night", Thursday "Mexican Night", Wednesday "Not Burger or Mexican Night", Friday and Saturday "Street Tacos" at the snack shack. (And who knows? We even might have a new Chef by the time you are reading this article.)

So awaken your inner child and make a resolution to welcome the coming of Autumn with renewed JOIE De VIVRE!

PS ~Let me know if you want me to pick up an extra box of Ticonderoga pencils for you for you so you can write your New School Year resolutions! My beloved Dale Evans is no more, but I surely can saddle up my Porsche and head to Staples for all of us!
